Occupational risk assessment

As defined in § 2 of the Minister of Labour and Social Policy of 26 September 1997 on the general safety and health at work (consolidated text.: Journal of Laws 2003, No. 169, pos. 1650, with later changes), occupational risk is the probability of adverse events associated with the work performed, resulting in losses, particularly among workers of adverse health effects due to occupational hazards present in work environment or way of performing work.

To the employer duties belongs informing employees about the occupational risk and the principles of protection against threats. Occupational risk assessment is performed to ensure better working conditions and protect the lives and health of workers. The method of its conduct has an impact on the effectiveness of functioning in the enterprise management of health and safety system.
